I can’t comment authoritatively, but I’m betting it’s because that tricky syncopation was fiendish - even in the original with Kenton’s group, they’d almost fall apart. I agree, though - original is much better.

Wonderful performance. I play in the Michigan State University Symphonic Band, and will be sharing this performance with my colleagues.

Breathtaking performance! I plan on doing this with the high school band I conduct, and we will certainly be influenced by this interpretation. LOVE your approach to the part just after 3:30!!! My high school band did this right before COVID hit. This, by far, is my favorite piece I have ever played, and will most likely remain my favorite. I can’t help but tear up every time I hear it.

Ernst Stieberitz is my favorite composer of German marches. This performance perfectly recreates the charm of Stieberitz's work. The conductor's precise instructions and the players' technique and heart in responding to them captured my heart. I applaud the conductor and the orchestra members from Japan.

I love this piece so much. I love the end piano solo, because it’s like.. a little light in a dark room.. recovering from what just happened.

Not a bad show at all guys - well done. Geoffrey's arrangement is quite convincing on its own terms. As it is the 70th Anniversary of Resurgam this year I wonder if we can get word out to have far more bands play this?
